Message claims that an email with an attached file called “Invitation” contains a virus that will open an Olympic Torch that destroys the computer’s hard drive (Full commentary below.) [1]

Just when I thought that virus hoax authors had lost all of their creativity, along comes this gem. [2]

McAfee’s anti-virus team gave the destructive virus a ranking of “high” Monday afternoon after it had been found in more than 50 enterprise companies, including Fortune 500 firms. [3]

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list, that is why you should notify all your contacts. [4]

As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. [2]

A new version of the hoax email falsely claims that the information in the message has been verified by Hoax-Slayer.com and Snopes.com (details below). [1]

It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which “burns” the whole hard disc C of your computer. [5]

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept. [1]

Recent versions have combined this chain with the Internet Flower for You warning to create the “WORST EVER VIRUS” hoax. [2]

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever. [6]

The message is simply a rehashed version of the long running Virtual Card for You virus hoax (see example below) and should not be taken seriously. [1]

According to the message, the attachment opens an “Olympic Torch, which “burns” the whole hard disc C of your computer”. [1]

Their article explains that the so called “olympic torch” is a hoax which has been widely circulated on the internet and that all email about this hoax can be safely deleted without continuing the hoax by passing information on to friends. [...] This is a warning email that I’ve just received from an acquaintant of mine…therefore I decide to post it here, better than be sorry later. [4]
