Not With My Wife, You Don’t! [1]

This doubleheader CD presents digital premieres of two swinging sex comedy scores from 1966: Not With My Wife, You Don’t! [2]

Titles: Not with My Wife, You Don't! [3]

In the words of Hamlet, there’s a plentiful lack of wit in Not with My Wife, You Don’t! [...] Unable to woo Lisi by fair means, Scott resorts to foul; he exercises his prerogative as Curtis’ superior officer, shipping him out to a faraway post. [...] In strolls old air force buddy George C. Scott, who has a history of stealing Curtis’ ladies away from him. [4]

Not with My Wife, You Don’t! [5]

George C. Scott may have been right to refuse his Oscar for Patton; he doesn’t look like much of an award-winner in Not With My Wife, You Don’t! [4]

The score-very much of a piece with Not With My Wife, You Don’t!-was composed by George Duning, an underrated composer with a gift for melody who was a contract composer at Columbia Pictures in the late 1950s (when Williams was the studio orchestra pianist). [2]

Description: Scott and Curtis star as two Korean War flight commanders who are engaged in combat… over the same woman! [5]

Following a brief animated introduction featuring the “green-eyed monster of jealousy”, we are quickly introduced to Air Force Col. Tom Ferris (Curtis) and his beautiful Italian-born wife, Julietta (Lisi), who thinks he pays too much attention to his boss (O’Connor) and not enough to her. [1]

This sub-comedy of the mid-1960’s caught Tony Curtis at the end of his comic-charming roles, George C. Scott on a lark for bucks, and the beautiful Italian actress, Virna Lisi at HIGH BANKABLE POWER in a script that wanted to be Neil Simon..but racy! [6]

Of the three songs written for the film (”A Big Beautiful Ball”, “My Inamorata” and “Not With My Wife, You Don’t!”), “My Inamorata” is used the most often. [1]
