Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Meat decided it was best for him to leave home, so in 1967 he quit college (where he was studying to be an accountant), and moved to L.A., where he formed “Meat Loaf Soul”, who later became “Popcorn Blizzard”, a group which was quite successful. [1]

The product of a family of gospel singers, he moved to Los Angeles in 1967 and formed a group known as both Meat Loaf Soul and Popcorn Blizzard. [2]

MEAT LOAF BACK IN THE STUDIO! [...] Meat Loaf is to receive a “classic song” award for his epic Bat Out Of Hell, it was announced. [3]

Meat’s adventures over the next couple of years included touring the States with the National Lampoon Road Show, playing the priest in “Rockabye Hamlet” (you guessed it… a rock version of Hamlet!) and singing on Ted Nugent’s album ‘Free for All’. [1]

Rock band Dead Rose Beauty will open for Meat Loaf on his USA Tour dates. [3]

After several years in relative obscurity, Meat Loaf and Steinman reunited in 1993 for Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, which continued the original’s story line and duplicated its thunderous sound. [2]

Eventually, manager David Sonenberg persuaded the fledgling Cleveland International corporation to play the “Bat Out Of Hell” tapes to Epic. [1]

He is noted for the Bat out of Hell album trilogy consisting of Bat Out of Hell, Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell and Bat out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose. [...] It was during the audition that Meat Loaf first met his future collaborator Jim Steinman. [4]

They notched up a minor American Hit: “What You See is What You Get” by Stoney and Meatloaf (sic) hit US:71 in 1971. [...] He then switched roles to appear in the off-Broadway musical, “More Than You Deserve!”, written by Jim Steinman, a precocious and inventive New Yorker, who’d been brought up in California, but had come back to get back to the Great White Way. [1]

Soon, Meat Loaf reteamed with Steinman for a tour with the National Lampoon Road Show, after which Steinman began composing a musical update of the Peter Pan story titled Never Land. [...] The band earned some renown through opening gigs in support of the Who, the Stooges, and Ted Nugent before Meat Loaf won a role in a West Coast production of the musical Hair. [2]

Meat Loaf is back in the saddle, recording songs for a new full-length album. [3]

JJ Heller is a mix of eclectic and down-to-earth: from her jeans and t-shirt style to the way she pushes her own boundaries. [1]

Following time as a student of music in the San Francisco Bay Area at San Jose Christian College, singer / songwriter JJ Heller married guitarist Dave Heller and took her talents to Phoenix, Arizona. [2]

JJ Heller’s “Only Love Remains” sparkles like a luminous gem, with so many special elements that it’s hard to know where to focus first. [3]

PRETTY AND THE PLAIN is the second collaboration effort of JJ & Dave Heller, and producer Mitch Dane, offering a collection of songs that are wonderfully written, performed, and produced, having all the characteristics which make this album a MUST for your Christian music collection. [4]

I thought you would like to know that I currently have your song “My Savior’s Love Endures” on my profile playlist. [5]

Heller co-writes with her husband Dave, who does double duty as manager, guitarist, and background vocalist extraordinaire. [3]

JJ’s independent debut, Songs That I Know is a personal and intimate collection of nine acoustic pop songs all penned by Heller herself. [2]

As “Only You” opens, its quiet acoustic guitar gently bearing Heller’s penetrating vocals, your first impression is one of lovely austerity. [...] But as this probing song continues, and you notice the exquisite arrangements, you realize there is a lot more happening on this album. [3]

‘I feel called to be honest about what’s going on in my life — to talk and sing about the struggles that I face so that my listeners realize that they are not alone,’ explains JJ. [6]

She sourced inspiration from artists like Feist, Patty Griffin, and David Gray, and also challenged herself to be less of an observer in the studio. [1]

Songs teams Heller with her husband on guitar and in the co-production seat with Brock Caldwell, who also aids in the percussion, bass, drums, and guitar department. [2]

JJ spent ten days in the studio tracking a new record. [5]

JJ says the themes of hope and redemption showcased on their new album, ‘Painted Red,’ largely draw from the life experience of soon becoming parents. [6]

With underground talent this good — better than a lot of similar, currently wider-known artists — it’s a shame more don’t know about her. [2]
