With cold rain falling and a chance of snow showers in the forecast, Major League Baseball announced that Game Five would not resume on Tuesday. [1]

“We are expecting a fairly persistent, light rain, or drizzle throughout the game,” said Mark Britt, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis. [2]

The rain ended up coming a little bit earlier, but even if it did begin at 10 PM, chances are they would have run into some substantial weather issues anyways. [6]

Game 5 of the World Series was suspended because of rain in the sixth inning with the Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays tied at 2. [...] With the Phillies on the brink of their first World Series championship in 28 years, fans instead had the title drought go on for another day. [3]

Pre-game ceremonies were cut short, and Major League Baseball said there will be full introductions before Game 4 Sunday. [5]

“I have been told that we are definitely going to play and we are probably going to play through some real tough conditions because, from what I understand, the forecast for the next two days is probably worse,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland told reporters. [2]

The teams split the first two games in Tampa Bay, with the Phillies winning the opener 3-2 and the Rays taking the second game 4-2. [5]
