ring around the moon

A recently released picture of the F Ring around Saturn shows it being obliterated on a certain portion by the passing of the tiny moon Prometheus through it. [1]

Have you ever noticed that there can sometimes be a ring around the Moon. [2]

The ring around the Moon is caused by the refraction of Moonlight (which of course is reflected sunlight) from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. [3]

Ring Around the Moon, in contrast, began as an abstract instrumental piece. [5]

The Moon was full and there was a huge ring around it. [4]

Astronomers suspect that the newly discovered ring gets its material from Saturn’s outermost moon, Phoebe. [6]

As light passes through these hexagon-shaped ice crystals, it is bent at a 22 degree angle, creating a halo 22 degrees in radius (or 44 degrees in diameter). [7]

Astronomers recently found another ring around the planet Saturn ‘ and it’s the biggest one yet. [...] Light travels in waves, and the waves of infrared light are longer than the waves of visible light. [6]

A rainbow is produced when sunlight is refracted through water droplets - A similar effect is produced when moon light refracts through ice crystals. [3]

A lunar halo is caused by the refraction, reflection, and dispersion of light through ice particles suspended within thin, wispy, high altitude cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. [7]

While our expertise is in high-energy astrophysics, we can point you in the right direction for the answer to your question. [4]

Waves of energy coming from the newly discovered ring are estimated to be about 30 microns apart ‘ so tiny that about 1,000 waves would fit on your thumb nail. [6]

The ring around the Moon is caused by the refraction of Moonlight (which is really sunlight) through ice crystals suspended in the upper atmosphere. [2]
