what time does the grammys come on

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

The big news, at least for this blog, is that Kathy Griffin did not win the Grammy for best comedy album. [1]

Take our new online news trivia quiz hosted by your favorite CNN anchors. [2]

I love award shows but the Grammys are a real challenge because there are more than 100 categories so figure there’s at least five nominees (and figure in all the group members) and it just ends up being HUNDREDS of people vying for awards plus the ones who are there to present or working the red carpet to promote a new album. [1]

ADAM T. BRADLEY, mayor of White Plains, N.Y., on the possibility of 9/11 terrorism suspects’ trial taking place in his city’s federal courthouse. [3]

She not only won the evening’s first Grammy for best R&B album, but she also performed “You Pulled Me Through” on the show - a week after she did sang the heck out of the “Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl. [...] Anyway, here are some of my red carpet encounters and if you read this earlier, this is an updated version with more interviews and added commentary. [...] Greg Hernandez authored Out In Hollywood for the Daily News from June 2006 to February 2009. [1]

Flights transporting critically injured Haitians into the United States will resume within a few hours, the White House announced Sunday. [2]

If Ricky Skaggs looked unusually relaxed for a Grammy nominee as he made his way down the red carpet, there’s a good reason for it: the bluegrass legend already has Grammy trophies at home in his office in Tennessee. [1]

Jennifer Hudson was among the last stars seen in the red carpet but she was hurried through since her award was the first to be presented. [...] “It wasn’t long ago I was sitting on a bar stool in college playing for my college friends and I had this dream of going off and writing my own songs and having people hear them and listen to my voice. You can use a celebrity look alike generator to find out. [1]

what time are the grammys on tonight

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Biggest winners: Amy Winehouse won five of six, losing only in album of the year. [1]

Thanks to nods this year for popular artists like Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Kings of Leon, there may be less discussion about whether or not the nominating committee gets it, but that doesn’t mean everyone is still happy. [2]

But having covering the Grammys from the Staples Center in the past, it’s always amusing to watch artists rush from the red carpet to the pre-show and then back to the red carpet, as that’s where all the press is. [1]

The long-dormant Police (top) will celebrate its 30th anniversary by opening tonight’s Grammy Awards telecast; and Justin Timberlake (above) performs tonight with the winner of an “American Idol”-styled contest. [3]

Watching Michael Jackson, Police, Madonna, Prince, Whitney, just to name a few win the awards and thinking they deserved it. [2]

Kanye West deserved it, and the rapper has now been shut out of the major pop categories for three consecutive albums. [1]

This meant that, in a digital-music era when the record industry is either imploding or undergoing a major paradigm shift (if not both), viewers preferred the predominantly amateur performers on “Idol” by a margin of nearly two-to-one. [3]

He also gave a shout-out to Winehouse producer Mark Ronson, saying, “If i don’t get to get up here for album of the year, you deserve it just as much as me. [1]

It was also a sobering defeat for the Grammys, which honors artists in 108 categories and has long prided itself for its idiomatic diversity and as the music world’s most prestigious annual awards show. [...] “To some degree, it does come down to aesthetics and to ‘commercial’ vs. ‘art,’ and I don’t think ‘commercial’ is a dirty word,” said Neil Portnow, the head of the Recording Academy (formerly the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences), under whose auspices the Grammys are presented. [...] (Because the show airs on a three-hour time delay here, viewers on the West Coast will not be able to vote during the telecast. [3]

7:34 p.m.: Rap sung/collaboration: Rihanna’s “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z. [1]

Often it seems that the artists rewarded for their talent are not in step with who is really popular among fans and music lovers. [2]

Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock and an orchestra on George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” and a little dueling pianos shtick. [...] Look at you, Nashville, delivering the most sexually-explicit song of this year’s Grammy Awards. [1]

pro bowl 2010 time

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

The Pro Bowl is coming back to mainland USA for the first time in 30 years. [1]

Super Bowl 2010 returns to Miami, this time with the NFL all-star game, the Here’s the web’s best calendar for the hottest parties, best deals, and free events in South Florida for Super Bowl 2010 and for the NFL Pro Bowl. [2]

This Super Bowl marks the first time that two “indoor dome” teams will square off against each other in a Super Bowl. [3]

The Minnesota Vikings placed an NFL-best eight players on the National Football Conference All-Star team that will face the American Football Conference All-Stars in the 2010 Pro Bowl that kicks off Super Bowl week in South Florida. [4]

Preceding the Super Bowl for the first time, the Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 and be televised live on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. [5]

Contain your excitement if you can: it’s time for the Pro Bowl, the NFL’s woeful attempt to match the popularity of baseball and basketball’s all-star games. [6]

For the first time since 1980, the Pro Bowl will be played somewhere other than Honolulu. [7]

It’s hard to argue in favor of an all-star game in which the league’s seventh best player at his position makes the cut, let alone make the case for watching it. [6]

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL has not announced the move, but Hawaii’s governor and Honolulu’s mayor both confirmed the situation later Monday. [8]

Fans also may purchase Pro Bowl travel and hospitality packages via NFL On Location, the official source for authentic NFL experiences. [5]

It will also be held in Miami, and at the same stadium. [1]

Four of the league’s ?lite quarterbacks ‘ Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer and Tom Brady ‘ dropped out, citing injury or, in Manning’s case, participation in the Super Bowl on Feb. 7. [6]

Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts carved up the New York Jets with surgical precision in the second half of the AFC Championship game en route to a 30-17 victory. [9]

Held annually since 1950 (though there were NFL All-Star Games played from 1939 to ‘42) and typically played the week after the Super Bowl, the Pro Bowl used to be a thing of pride among players (not to mention cause for a sizable bonus back when they still needed the money). [6]

The Pro Bowl is an annual NFL game to honor the all-star players of the 2009 NFL season as selected by fans and their peers. [1]
