dan henderson vs jake shields

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

Henderson will try to win Shields’ middleweight title in his Strikeforce debut Saturday, April 17 in Nashville, Tenn. [1]

Unable to come to terms with the UFC after his contract expired, Henderson signed a four-fight, 16-month deal with Strikeforce this past December. [2]

Newly signed Strikeforce superstar Dan Henderson is in “end stage” negotiations to face Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields at the organizations next CBS event in April. [3]

A reported match up between Dan Henderson and middleweight champion Jake Shields could be in the works for a Strikeforce event in April. [4]

The first fight on that deal comes in Saturday’s middleweight title match against Jake Shields, who would like very much to follow the same blueprint Henderson designed. [5]

Although Dan Henderson announced he would be challenging Jake Shields for his Strikeforce middleweight title last month, Shields finally confirmed yesterday that the scrap is set for sometime and someplace in April. [6]

- Former dual Pride FC middleweight and welterweight champion, Dan Henderson, will likely make his Strikeforce debut a meaningful one, taking on current 185-pound champion Jake Shields at the promotion’s upcoming April event. [7]

Dan Henderson vs. Jake Shields Prediction Introduction: Strikeforce isn’t ready to take on the UFC for worldwide MMA supremacy just yet, but they sure are putting together some outstanding fights and events. [8]

Henderson (25-7) is coming off of three-straight wins over Rousimar Palhares, Rich Franklin, and Michael Bisping, respectively, to close out his recent UFC stint. [3]

Shields has won his past 13 fights, while Henderson won his last three UFC fights before joining Strikeforce. [...] Check here for all the news on Dan Henderson and Jake Shields and their fight and to get live round-by-round updates and results for Strikeforce: Nashville from the undercard and main event. [1]

The Strikeforce middleweight title bout between Jake Shields and Dan Henderson has been officially added to their April card. [2]

Dan Henderson vs. Jake Shields Prediction: Shields is coming up to middleweight to fight Henderson, when he’s really a 170 pounder. [8]

Adding to the intrigue, UFC President Dana White has already stated an interest in Shields, particularly if he can find a way to beat the former two-time PRIDE champ. [5]

Shields took the open 185-pound title by defeating Jason Miller at ‘Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers’ in November, and you can believe there is nothing the organization, more importantly CBS, would like more than to have an All-American title fight pushing the numbers in their second primetime broadcast. strikeforce brawl

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

– MMA Fighting spoke to Nick Diaz following the ugly brawl that broke out between members of Jake Shields ‘ camp and Jason “Mayhem” Miller following Shields’ win over Dan Henderson at Strikeforce: Nashville. [1]

As if that wasn’t enough, the card also features the StrikeForce debut of Dan Henderson and the stateside debut of Shinya Aoki. [2]

Rounding out the trio of title fights, middleweight champion and grappling kingpin Jake Shields will defend his belt against the aforementioned Henderson. [3]

Strikeforce: Nashville featured three good fights in the cage on CBS, and then one very bad fight in the cage on CBS, when Jake Shields (who had just beaten Dan Henderson in the main event) was confronted by Jason Mayhem Miller in the cage immediately afterward, and Shields’ corner began to brawl with Miller. [...] But it appeared that Shields’ friends Gilbert Melendez (who had beaten Shinya Aoki earlier in the show), Nick Diaz (the Strikeforce welterweight champion) and Nate Diaz (Nick’s brother and a UFC fighter) took it very seriously and escalated things after Shields and Miller engaged in a brief shoving match. [4]

Henderson is no stranger to big time matches with title implications, and despite the fact that the match is on broadcast television, it’s possible that it won’t even be his most watched match. [5]

That’s where the fight gets complicated for Shields, as his fragile chin and notoriously substandard striking make a tempting target for Henderson’s overhand right. [...] The event, which emanates from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., features not only the debut of prized free agent acquisition Dan Henderson but three cash money title bouts airing live on CBS. [3]

Thanks “Strikeforce” for destroying mma and turning it in to wwe!!! [4]

Former welterweight Shields is a big underdog in this middleweight title fight but shouldn’t be counted out entirely. [2]

The event will be broadcasted on CBS, and will feature two other title fights, including a middleweight title matchup between champ Jake Shields and former UFC mainstay Dan Henderson, as well as a battle between StrikeForce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez and DREAM Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki. [6]

Strikeforce’s Jake Shields: Post-fight scrum no surprise with “disrespectful&quo. [7]

I’m in Nashville for Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Nashville” card, which airs on CBS. [8]

The StrikeForce Light Heavyweight title fight could not feature fighters with more differing personalities than champion Gegard Mousasi and Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. [6]

He’s thrilled to be fighting Aoki and considers it an honor to be able to fight Japan’s biggest MMA superstar. [8]

cynthia vincent for target

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

RIGHT ON TARGET (AGAIN): We were excited for Jean Paul Gaultier, we cleaned the shelves clean for Liberty of London and we’re nearly pitching a tent outside our local store weeks in advance for Zac Posen - but we weren’t too well versed on the two latest accessories and footwear collaborations arriving at Target this Spring until just now. [1]

Target announced today that it will be working with yet more stylish, slightly under-the-radar designers for two accessories collections launching in April 2010: This round, the designers are Cynthia Vincent and Eugenia Kim. [2]

Target has announced two amazing accessories collaborations: a hat collection with Eugenia Kim and a footwear line with Cynthia Vincent. [3]

MINNEAPOLIS (Apr. 5) Target announced that it is partnering with designer Cynthia Vincent to launch a limited-edition footwear collection, Cynthia Vincent for Target. [4]

Many of you seem to be very excited about the Cynthia Vincent for Target collaboration, I am too. [5]

Cynthia Vincent for Target was destined to be steeped in chic California cool, and upon seeing the first shots of these hot shoes, it’s official. [6]

The Cynthia Vincent for Target collection features a gladiator wedge ($29.99) in black, yellow and cognac man-made leather, based on a signature Twelfth Street style. [...] COMING: The Cynthia Vincent line for Target includes gladiator wedges in yellow, left, $29.99; and African-print-inspired wedges, $29.99. [...] La Verne native Cynthia Vincent is the latest designer to partner with the discount retailer, in this case for a limited-edition shoe collection out April 18 through July 1. [7]

A couple months ago, I was invited to Target to preview the collection and was amazed at how nice the shoes turned out. [5]

As for Eugenia Kim, the designer’s hats have been a New York fixture for some time, so we’re ecstatic to see her quirky, slightly retro hats have made their way into the mainstream. [2]

Editors were gifted a pair of choice so I went with the black wedge which I received a couple weeks ago. [5]

All the shoes in the Cynthia Vincent for Target collection are priced under $30. [...] The Otis Parsons alum launched Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent in 2003, and it was one of the few local lines to debut at the first Los Angeles Fashion Week that same year, along with Trina Turk and Michelle Mason. [7]

The Cynthia Vincent for Target collection will be available at Target stores nationwide and at Target.com April 18 through July 1. [4]
