The Alderney Gambling Control Commission has suspended Full Tilt Poker ’s license to operate, according to a release from the commission. [1]

The world’s largest online poker site, Full Tilt Poker, had zero players gambling on its site Wednesday after the Alderney Gambling Control Commission — located in the British Channel Islands — suspends FTP’s license. [2]

Full Tilt Poker, owned by Ray Bitar, faces the loss of five of its gaming licenses. [3]

As of right now, players across the world cannot access the Full Tilt Poker platform/software. [4]

Online poker’s Black Friday was very bad news indeed for US-facing poker rooms, but 29th June 2011 could well be remembered as Woeful Wednesday for Full Tilt after its license was suspended by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC). [5]

In addition, AGCC has issued Suspension Notices under Regulation 47 to the above named companies requiring them to suspend all operations with immediate effect. [6]

The commission’s ruling narrowly interprets what the comedian and Viacom Inc., the parent company of Comedy Central, can do with Colbert’s super PAC. [1]

A panel of six FEC commissioners ruled in favor of Colbert’s advisory opinion request, which questioned the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 whether his political action committee, Colbert Super PAC, is able to solicit and accept unlimited campaign contributions for the purpose of making independent expenditures from individuals, political committees, labor organizations, and corporations. If the Super PAC were to place advertisements on any other media, that would count as activity outside of the press exemption and Viacom would be required to disclose their payments to staff who worked to create the ads for both the Colbert Super PAC and the “Colbert Report” as in-kind contributions.
