In the years since, he has been the public face for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research and been on screen occasionally, notably a guest spot in the Denis Leary television drama Rescue Me in 2009. [1]

Michael J. Fox was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as Michel Andrew Fox. [2]

While he maintains a strong commitment to his acting and writing careers, Fox has shifted his primary focus and energies toward The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, which he launched in 2000, and its efforts to raise much-needed research funding and awareness for Parkinson’s disease. [3]

The Michael J. Fox Database (MJFDB) went online February 4, 1999 and has been providing information about Michael J. Fox’s entertainment career for over a decade. [4]

The show was a springboard for Fox, who hit big screen stardom as time-traveling teen Marty McFly in the hugely successful Back To The Future film series: Part I (1985), Part II (1989) and Part III (1990). [1]

Michael J. Fox was born Michael Andrew Fox in 1961 to parents William and Phyllis in Edmonton, the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta. [3]

As an actor, Fox’s specialty was an earnest and ambitious charm, a trait he put to good use while playing the buttoned-down youngster Alex P. Keaton in the 1980s comedy series Family Ties. [...] After several feature films, including a few turns at drama (1987’s Light of Day and 1989’s Casualties of War), Fox returned to television in the political sitcom Spin City (1996-2001). [1]

Fox was overwhelmed with joy, but sadly, the film never got made. [5]

He also served as executive producer, along with Gary David Goldberg, Bill Lawrence, David Rosenthal, and producer/director Andy Cadiff. [3]

Information includes Motion Picture and Television work as well as Michael J. Fox’s literary achievements plus much more. [4]

Fox’s first feature film roles were in Midnight Madness (1980) and Class of 1984 (1982), credited in both as Michael Fox. [...] Fox starred in the Canadian television series Leo and Me at the age of fifteen, and in 1979, moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career at the age of eighteen. [6]

At eighteen, he moved to Los Angeles and was offered a few roles in television shows but early acting success ended fast when the roles stopped coming. [5]

When Fox left the TV series Spin City, his final episodes made numerous allusions to Family Ties: Michael Gross (who played Alex’s father Steven) portrays Mike Flaherty’s (Fox’s) therapist, and there is a reference to an off-screen character named “Mallory “. [6]

Propaganda is a specific type of message presentation directly aimed at influencing the opinions or behavior of people rather than providing objective information. [2]

Propaganda is a specific type of message presentation, aimed at serving an agenda. [3]

Propaganda, the coordinated attempt to influence public opinion through the use of media, was skillfully used by the Nazi Party in the years leading up to and during Adolf Hitler ’s leadership of Germany (1933′1945). [4]

In 1622, shortly after the start of the Thirty Years’ War, Pope Gregory XV founded the Congregatio de Propaganda Fide (”Congregation for Propagating the Faith”), a committee of cardinals with the duty of overseeing the propagation of Christianity by missionaries sent to non-Catholic countries. [2]

The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) was launched in 1993 to create what at the time was the only public interest and media organization dedicated to exposing organized corporate and government propaganda and it’s impacts on democracy and democratic social change. [3]

In every propaganda war two things are needed: Injustice and Faint. [3]

Its wartime applications, in the Napoleonic or the American independence wars, were confined largely to calls to arms, lampooning the enemy, glorifying victory, and sustaining morale. [5]

Propaganda shares many techniques with advertising or public relations; in fact, advertising and PR can be said to be propaganda promoting a commercial product. [3]

Nazi propaganda provided a crucial instrument for acquiring and maintaining power, and for the implementation of their policies, including the pursuit of total war and the extermination of millions of people in the Holocaust. [4]

Social influence occurs when an individual’s thoughts, feelings or actions are affected by other people. [6]

This redefinition arose because both the Soviet Union and Germany ’s government under Hitler admitted explicitly to using propaganda favoring, respectively, communism and Nazism, in all forms of public expression. [...] Propaganda can take the form of leaflets, posters, TV and radio broadcasts and can also extend to any other medium. [1]

Although the NHC is an agency of the United States, the World Meteorological Organization has designated it as Regional Specialized Meteorological Center for the North Atlantic and eastern Pacific. [...] As such, the NHC is the central clearinghouse for all tropical cyclone forecasts and observations occurring in these areas, regardless of their effect on the US. [...] The National Hurricane Center (NHC), located at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, is the division of the National Weather Service responsible for tracking and predicting weather systems within the tropics between the Prime Meridian and the 140th meridian west poleward to the 30th parallel north in the northeast Pacific ocean and the 31st parallel north in the northern Atlantic ocean. [...] Its Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch (TAFB) routinely issues marine forecasts, in the form of graphics and high seas forecasts, for this area year round. [1]

THIS SYSTEM HAS A HIGH CHANCE…NEAR 100 PERCENT…OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD NEAR 15 MPH. [2]

When tropical storm or hurricane conditions are expected within 36 hours, the center issues the appropriate watches and warnings via the news media and NOAA Weather Radio. [1]

v for vendetta

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

Based on the popular graphic novel by Alan Moore, V for Vendetta’s screenplay was written by the Wachowski brothers (of The Matrix fame) and directed by their prot?g?, James McTeigue. [1]

Based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, V for Vendetta takes place in an alternate vision of Britain in which a corrupt and abusive totalitarian government has risen to complete power. [2]

V for Vendetta is, like its author’s later Watchmen, a landmark in comic-book writing. [3]

V for Vendetta is a 2006 dystopian thriller film directed by James McTeigue and produced by Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers, who also wrote the screenplay. [4]

The world in which V lives is very similar to Orwell’s totalitarian dystopia in 1984: after years of various wars, England is now under “big brother” Chancellor Adam Sutler (played by John Hurt, who played Winston Smith in the movie 1984), whose party uses force and fear to run the nation. [1]

By the end of the film, legions of masked and caped citizens descending on the houses of Parliament in improbably perfect formation come off not as unrealistic, but as a beautifully stylized illustration. [2]

Alan Moore has led the field in intelligent, politically astute (if slightly paranoid), complex adult comic-book writing since the early 1980s. [3]

Controversy and criticism followed the film since its inception, from the hyper-stylized use of anarchistic terrorism to overthrow a corrupt government and the blatant jabs at the current U.S. political arena, to graphic novel fans complaining about the reconstruction of Alan Moore’s original vision (Moore himself has dismissed the film). [1]

During a threatening run in with the secret police, an unassuming young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) is rescued by a vigilante named V (Hugo Weaving) — a caped figure both articulate and skilled in combat. [2]

At the beginning of his vendetta, V rescues Evey (Natalie Portman) from a group of police officers and has her live with him in his underworld lair. [1]

Similarly to the graphic novel, there is repeated reference to the letter ‘V’ and the number five throughout the film (note that letter “V” is number five in Roman numerals). [4]

On November 5, 1997 in London a mysterious cloaked figure wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, and calling himself “V”, rescues a young girl, Evey Hammond, from a gang of police officers (known as “Fingermen”) who intend to rape and kill her. [5]

In 2020, the world is plagued by environmental plight and the former United States has become balkanized. [...] He ended cooperation with his publisher, DC Comics, after its corporate parent, Warner Bros. [4]

Skillfully plotted, V is an essential read for all those who love comics and the freedom, as a medium, they allow a writer as skilled as Moore. [3]
